The finished version of the sketchbook drawing. I was originally going to do the whole thing in color, and then opted for just one accent color: TARDIS blue. This is done in acrylic gouache with black ink on bristol paper.
Because I don’t know what he’ll be wearing, I kept it simple for now: long coat and a scarf. Everything is always more dramatic with clothes that can billow…
Peter Capaldi is going to be an AMAZING Doctor.
I’ve also always wanted to do a picture of a weird double-ringed planet, so here it is. (Apparently it really is plausible if a moon has an erratic orbit and is breaking up. Anyway, when did I ever let the laws of physics prevent me from drawing anything…?)
I'm sorry. I like the picture, but apart from hair he looks exactly like James Nesbitt. Which if to think of it would be awesome, since I've just finished 'The Trial of the Time Lord' and the new series came just to the right point for that story to bear fruit.
Oh crap, spoiler! I didn't know how the next doctor is going to look like!
But I like your art. *looks in the rest of your gallery*
But I see him dressed like a sort of stylish, older Bowie, with a little bit of an aviator/explorer look about him.
The strange thing I noticed only after the fact was that there's a Roman numeral 12 in this picture! (XII) The planet's rings make 'X' and the shape the Doctor and the sonic screwdriver make are the 'II'. Purely an accident that I only noticed after a glass of wine one night. "Heyyyy... there's a XII in there..." <?xml:namespace prefix = da />
